Our own code

The tools and page layouts are written for this site. The pages make no requests to other servers.

Data and formulas

The calculators use published definitions and formulas, typed into our own code:

• MPGe: 33.7 kWh of electricity counts as one US gallon of gasoline (EPA fuel economy label definition).
• Charging power: volts × amps for AC charging, limited by the vehicle’s onboard charger; energy from the wall = energy into the battery ÷ (1 − charging loss), with the loss editable (default 9.2 %, Idaho National Laboratory INL/EXT-12-25761).
• Charger circuits: EV charging equipment is a continuous load and its overcurrent protection is at least 125 % of the rated current (NEC 625.41); EVSE load at 7,200 W or the nameplate rating, whichever is larger (NEC 220.57); service capacity from measured demand (NEC 220.87). Code tables are not reproduced.
• Conductor resistance from resistivity (copper 0.017241 Ω·mm²/m, aluminium 0.028264 Ω·mm²/m) (NBS Handbooks 100 and 109) and AWG sizes from the NBS Handbook 100 definition.
• Connector types: SAE J1772, SAE J3400 (NACS), IEC 62196 (Type 2, CCS), CHAdeMO and GB/T, with nominal maximum ratings only.
• Italian tax rules for the page /it/costi-chilometrici-aci/: TUIR art. 51 comma 4 lett. a (as replaced by D.Lgs. 148/2026 art. 2), legge 207/2024 art. 1 comma 48-bis, and Agenzia delle Entrate risoluzione 92/E of 30 October 2015 (Normattiva and Gazzetta Ufficiale texts, read 24 October 2026). The 15,000 km conventional distance, the 50 / 20 / 10 % rates, the +50 % after the fifth year and the +5 % for accessories are written into our own code.
• Default prices and distance (examples you replace): EIA U.S. residential electricity price July 2026 (18.31 ¢/kWh), EIA U.S. regular gasoline week of 5 October 2026 ($4.354/gal), FHWA 2023 light-duty average 11,106 miles a year.
